Upcoming Star Wars Movies & Series: Release Dates & Cast

We have long awaited and anticipated with Disney now finally being on the verge of producing more Star Wars movies. After all, the last Star Wars movie, “The Rise of Skywalker,” hit the cinemas five years ago.

With space-tacular news on the way for the Star Wars universe fans, the upcoming movies and Disney series will again ignite your imagination for the Galaxy far, far away. 

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's upcoming film, Star Wars: New Jedi Order, is up for movie production. Correspondingly, Lucasfilm has confirmed the release date of The Mandalorian & Grogu

Now, let’s see some of the confirmed and expected releases that will be set on live-screen, including Star Wars: New Jedi Order and The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Upcoming Star Wars Projects

According to industry reports, some of the project's release dates are expected to occur soon, whereas Disney confirms others for the coming years.

Here are the confirmed and expected releases. 

MOVIES

The Mandalorian & Grogu 

Release date: May 22, 2026

Cast: Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), Emily Swallow (The Armorer), Lars Mikkelsen (Grand Admiral Thrawn), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Carson Teva)


Years after the release of the Star Wars movie The Rise of Skywalker, the production of the movie ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ is set to begin in 2024. 

However, it is yet to be confirmed if the movie ‘Mandalorian & Grogu’ will serve as a supplement for The Mandalorian: Season 4 or not.

Katy O’Brian’s Imperial spy, Elia Kane, will return as the antagonist. Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze and Emily Swallow’s Armorer are expected to play supporting roles in the movie.  

The New Jedi Order 

Release date: Not Announced 

Cast: Daisy Ridley (Rey). 

Expected cast:  John Boyega (Finn) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Adam Driver (Ben Solo)


With the confirmation of the release and production of the 'Mandalorian & Grogu', it is likely that the Star Wars: New Jedi Order may take place after 2027. 

The current title of the movie, 'New Jedi Order', isn’t officially confirmed. However, it focuses majorly on Rey reestablishing the Jedi Order. 

James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi Movie 

Release date: Not Announced 

Cast: Unknown


Very little information is available about this upcoming untitled James Mangold movie and its cast members. However, it is said that the movie will focus on the first Jedi Knight who wields the Force. 

Dave Filoni's Mando-Verse New Republic Movie

Release date: Not Announced 

Cast: Unknown


Dave Filoni, chief creative officer of Lucasfilm, is likely to direct the movie that is expected to be set after the events of the Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens. 

The cast of the movie may include different characters from Star Wars TV shows: The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. 

TV SERIES

Ahsoka Season 2

Release date: Not Announced

Cast: Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren)


As confirmed by Lucasfilm, the production of season 2 of Ahsoka will happen after the movie development of The Mandalorian & Grogu. 

It is likely that the production of the Disney+ series ‘Ahsoka Season 2’ may start in early or late 2025. Some cast members like Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), and Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren) are sure to accompany Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano) in the movie. However, it is unsure if all the cast members will return. 

Star Wars Skeleton Crew

Release date: 2024

Cast: Jude Law, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armston


The Star Wars series Skeleton Crew was initially expected to be released late in 2023, but it is now expected to be released this year. Jon Watts and Christopher Ford will produce the series. 

The show will follow the story of four kids who lost their way to home in the Galaxy far, far away.  

Andor Season 2

Release date: 2025

Cast: Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen Rael), Varada Sethu (Cinta), Adria Arjona (Biix Caleen), Joplin Sibtain (Brasso), Genevieve O'Reilly (Mon Mothma), Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera), Faye Marsay (Vel), Kyle Soller (Syril Karn), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero), Andy Serkis (Kino Loy)


The highly anticipated sequel to Andor is ready to complete the story of Diego Luna's Cassian Andor in season 2. 

Tony Gilroy, in charge of the series, says that Andor 2 will be divided into four trilogies, each of which will portray a 12-month period. This is crucial for the development of the Rebel Alliance.

The Acolyte

Release date: June 4, 2024

Cast: Lee Jung-jae (Jedi Master Sol), Jodie Turner-Smith (Mother Aniseya), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jedi Master Indara), Charlie Barnett (Yord Fandar), Amandla Stenberg (Mae), Rebecca Henderson (Vernestra Rwoh), Joonas Suotamo (Kelnacca), Dafne Keen (Jecki Lon)


The Star Wars series ‘The Acolyte’ will debut on Disney+ on 4th of June, 2024.

The show will depict a time for the Sith lords to rise in power, bringing a new perspective in the name of villains of Star Wars through the course of eight episodes. 

Tales of the Empire

Release date: May 4, 2024

Cast: Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), Meredith Salenger (Barriss Offee), Rya Kihlstedt (Lyn aka Fourth Sister), Wing T. Chao (Wing), Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn), Jason Isaacs (Grand Inquisitor) and Matthew Wood (General Grievous)


The ‘Tales of the Empire’ series is expected to follow the same pattern as the ‘Tales of the Jedi’. Jedi traitor Barriss Offee and the Dathomiri witch Morgan Elsbeth will serve as the central figure of the series. 

Divided between two main figures and in six exciting parts, the series will feature Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The next few years, with the release of the above-mentioned movies and series, are going to be an exciting journey for Star Wars fans.
